Personal perspectives on urban health and wellbeing

A new Guy’s and St Thomas' charity report (attached) combines data, expert opinion and lived experience to look at the complex interaction between the assets and risks of urban environment, diversity and deprivation, and their impact on health.

As well as reinforcing the role of the wider determinants of health, it highlights resilience as a key difference between surviving and thriving.

The London boroughs of Lambeth and Southwark are more than twice as densely populated as the London average and are highly diverse - over 300 languages are spoken locally. The two areas rank among the most deprived places in the country.
