Mental Health Taskforce Report published

The independent Taskforce was set up in March 2015 by NHS England to develop a five year strategy for mental health in England. It comprised health and social care leaders, professional bodies, charities and experts by experience. Rethink Mental Illness and Mind engaged over 20,000 people with the taskforce through a national survey and regional workshop events.

ACE proposals for new funding models

Proposals for new structures for ACE funding from 2018 are on the table for consultation at Arts Council England.

CQC consultation

The Care Quality Commission is conducting a survey into significant proposed changes to the way it inspects and monitors the provision of health and social care.

The changes are set out in a new strategy called ‘Shaping the Future’ is a response to changes in care provision and cuts to CQC’s budget. A key element of the plans is called ‘implementing a single shared view of quality’, which builds on a single framework for measuring quality – another is increased scrutiny of hospitals’ measures to improve efficiency.

Arts Council research into disabled people working in the arts

Arts Council England has launched a survey to try to better understand the experiences of disabled people working in arts and culture.

The survey is open to disabled and non-disabled people who are employees, employers, aspire to work in the sector, or are currently out of work.

Get involved in Culture White paper

The Department for Culture is currently inviting suggestions and submissions as it develops a new policy approach to culture. The consultation offers an opportunity to advocate for the value of the arts in improving health and wellbeing.

Organisations and individuals can register to make suggestions and can also Tweet ideas using the hashtag #OurCulture.

Exploring music in care settings

Live Music Now’s A Choir in Every Care Home initiative is trying gather views about music in care homes along with examples of good practice.

It has set up a survey for anyone working within a care home (or similar), including senior staff and activity co-ordinators, whether or not you have any involvement with music.  The survey aims to explore whether music in care homes a good idea and what the main barriers are to doing more of it. click here to take this survey.

New Network for Museums and Health

The National Alliance for Arts, Health and Wellbeing is working with partners from the museums sector to establish a new alliance for museums and health. The National Alliance for Museums, Health and Wellbeing will support the museum sector’s work around health and wellbeing through sharing information about museums and health, improving best practice, disseminating relevant resources and supporting those working in this area of activity.
