Gifts of pre-eminent objects and works of art to the nation – deadline 21 September

HM Treasury has opened a consultation into a scheme to encourage people to give artworks or ‘pre-eminent objects’ to the nation during their lifetime in a bid to boost philanthropy and bolster the collections of British institutions.

This consultation document seeks views on a new scheme to stimulate lifetime gifts of pre-eminent objects to the nation by offering donors a reduction in their tax liability based on a set percentage of the value of the object they are donating.

Consultation on built environment design support – deadline 30 June

In the light of significant legislative and policy changes to the planning system, and its merger with the Design Council, CABE (The Commission for Architecture and the Built Environment) is reviewing how to best support good design in the built environment.

Led by Peter Bishop, Chair of the Architecture Centre Network, this review seeks input from those working in the field to ensure it helps to clarify and recommend a nation-wide system of support to deliver design quality in the built environment.
