What is Health? Perspectives from Contemporary Art and Medicine, The Royal Society of Medicine – 28 November 2019

Reforming Anatomy and the RSM Students Committee will bring an inspiring and thought-provoking evening to the RSM. The event will explore conceptions of mental health in contemporary art and medicine through lectures, lively interdisciplinary debates and a performance from the Corali Dance Company.

Dr Errol Francis, artist, CEO of independent arts and education charity Culture& and director of the curatorial group PS/Y, will be addressing the subject of madness and creativity, as well as sharing stories about his experience in community engagement relating to mental health and the arts. Visual artist Deborah Padfield, who specialises in lens-based media and inter-disciplinary practice and research within fine art and medicine, will share her thoughts and work on the role of images in communicating chronic pain in clinical consultation.
