Turtle Song - from 20 January 2017
Turtle Key Arts is running a series of workshops for people with memory problems and all forms of dementia offering an opportunity to compose and sing your own songs with professional musicians.
The group will meet weekly over a ten week period between January and March. The aims are to enjoy singing together, to write a song cycle, to record the songs on CD and DVD, and to have an experience that is both fun and inspiring.
Turtle Song runs over a period of ten weeks with one session every Friday. All the ideas for the songs will come from the participants, and the final piece will be performed live to friends and family at the end of the ten weeks. The sessions will be led by composer Jon Petter and director Carolyn von Stumm. They will be supported by music students from the Royal College of Music.
There is no need for any previous experience or skill, and everyone is welcome, whatever your ability.
Turtle Song has run successfully all over the country for the past 10 years and the resulting work can be seen at www.turtlekeyarts.org.uk
