New guidance on strategic commissioning

A new online guide for artists on how to understand and work with strategic commissioning aims to help them respond effectively to changes to the way that councils and public sector bodies are working.

Grant funding for projects is being replaced by commissioning and personal budgets, and the guide, ‘Strategic Commissioning: What Arts Organisations & Artists Need to Know’ takes artists through the policy context, signposts them to resources and offers examples of good practice. Produced by social enterprise Eventus with funding from Arts Council England, it includes the presentation ‘A speedy introduction to strategic commissioning’ online and documents on market development and consortium working.
