Closing Time? report

London Health Observatory’s Closing Time? report outlines the cost of alcohol attributable admissions to the NHS in London.

London is paying in excess of £264m a year to deal with the rising cost of dealing with alcohol specific hospital admissions: conditions as a direct result of alcohol consumption, and for alcohol related admissions: conditions where alcohol has been a factor, such as falls. This averages out at £34 for every London resident.

The report show that hospitals in London have seen a 66% rise in alcohol-attributable admissions since 2003/4.
