Love Arts Leeds - from 5 October 2016

The sixth annual Leeds arts and mental health festival will take place next month.

Working under the theme “I AM’, the festival will explore identity in a fun and creative way. Love Arts Festival aims to get people thinking and talking about mental health and to reduce the related stigma so many people experience.

An opportunity to lead the Art & Design Team. The post holder will be responsible for planning and implementing the wide range of art and environment initiatives and activities.

The aim of the Arts Team is to facilitate the organisation in encompassing art and design within the core business in order to enhance the experience of those individuals who work, visit and stay within the hospitals of York Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust.

Dance, Music and Dementia Masterclass - 17 June 2016

This experiential masterclass in Sheffield will show how music, movement and dance can help participants develop a person-centred improvisatory approach to supporting people living with dementia.

The masterclass will refer to the underpinning theory of the late Professor Tom Kitwood as well as the principles of dance, movement therapy, musical interaction and the person centred arts work of Understanding Arts CIC.

Lead Artist, Mental Health Project, Hull & East Yorkshire Mind – deadline 9 April 2016

Hull and East Yorkshire Mind wishes to appoint a Lead Artist to develop a programme of artistic responses to severe mental health issues.

A book of poetry by Trevor Hughes describes his son Peter’s tragic story as he develops a severe mental illness and eventually takes his own life by jumping off the Humber Bridge. Mind are looking for creative ideas for how to turn this initial idea into reality. Paintwork, projection, spoken words, music, photography, fine book illustration, events, readings across the city might all form part of this.

A celebration of creativity and mental wellbeing: the Arts and Minds Network – part of the Leeds and York NHS Foundation Trust – present the fifth Love Arts Festival, with performances, workshops and an arts trail.

Artist in Residence – deadline 3 September 2015

The Centre for Chronic Diseases and Disorders of the University of York is seeking an Artist in Residence.

The scheme is intended to support the creation of new artistic work inspired by an aspect of research into biomedicine and/or human health and wellbeing currently being conducted at the University of York. The Scheme is intended to establish a powerful creative collaboration between artist and researcher that will both generate persuasive, innovative and visceral art and inspire further interdisciplinary research and practice to the benefit of artist and researcher alike.

Artists are invited to send expressions of interest for artwork to go into the expanded theatres department currently being built at The Children’s Hospital in Sheffield.

Moving to Longevity – 28 November 2014

This practical and theoretical development day in Movement and Dementia is facilitated by Dr Richard Coaten and takes place in Rotherham.

The course aims to inspire those working with or supporting people with dementia in new ways of working and communicating by developing high-quality non-verbal communication skills. Richard is a UK specialist in dance with older people. He is an experienced psychotherapist, dancer, community dance worker and trainer. His special interest is in movement and dance-based work with those with memory problems.

Love Arts Conversation – 21 October 2014

The Love Arts Conversation, part of Love Arts Festival 2014, is a conference focused on mental health and creativity.

The Conversation will be roaming around Leeds City Centre at a variety of major arts venues, there will be structured conversations alongside creative presentations, performances, workshops, and films.
