Arts for Health Cornwall Summer School – 29 June 2015

A week-long training programme offering an opportunity to explore and learn about every aspect of designing and delivering arts and health projects is being offered this summer.

The Arts for Health Cornwall Summer School is taking place from June 29th to July 3rd in Penryn. The programme will consist of a series of workshops on different aspects of delivering an arts and health project, from developing a creative project, to securing funding, to evaluation and documentation.

The Arts and Dementia PhD Studentships – deadline 11 May 2015

Three PhD studentships Applications are available at the University of Worcester and the University of Nottingham designed to explore the impact of engagement with creative activities on people with all stages of dementia and on their family and professional carers.

Creative writing for wellbeing – 18 April 2015

Orchard Foundation is running a weekend course in Bristol to explore creative writing and its application to wellbeing.

The non-residential weekend course in Bristol offers confidence-building writing approaches for people with all levels of experience and none - courses are tailored. Tutors are experienced practitioners and facilitators.

Arts & Health South West Prize 2015 - deadline 16 January 2015

An award of £5000 is available to organisations based in the South West of England which can demonstrate excellence in arts in health practice.

The award - supported by the Fine Family Foundation - is accompanied by an individual prize and a runner-up prize both of £1000.

Paintings in Hospitals and Fresh Arts, part of North Bristol NHS Trust, have announced a new hub site for South West England.

Arts and Health South West Annual Conference – 20 November 2014

Arts and Health South West has announced the date of its Annual Conference 2014 which will be on Thursday November 20th.

The conference is an opportunity to share the organisation’s areas of focus for the next three years: Museums and Health / Music and Health / Public Health / Arts on Prescription / Culture, Health and Wellbeing International conference 2017.


Creative Dementia – 25 October 2014

Creative Care International will be running a one day conference on ‘Creative Demetia’ on 25 October in Somerset.

Speakers and Workshop Leaders will include Bisakha Sarker, Helen Lunt, Lucilla Spencer-Phillips, Emily Gerrard, Alice Liddell Allen, Sue Jennings, Phil Thomas and presenters from ‘Alive’.

Topics Include: Music Therapy, Readers Theatre, Dramatherapy, Indian Dance, Visual Art, the Lion Dance, Neuro-Dramatic-Play.

Early Bird Fee: £35 including buffet style lunch, materials.

Creative Minds South West – 14 October 2014

Creative Minds South West is a one-day conference planned and presented by a group of learning disabled artists, performers and film makers from 6 arts organisations.

The conference aims to address the notion of quality in learning disability led art forms. It will include some performance, films and art during the day, as well as talking. It is accessible to all.


Animation on Prescription at the Encounters Festival, Bristol – 19 September 2014

Now in its third year, Animation on Prescription is a one day event which aims to bring together animation and health professionals, sharing good practice and new advances in the field.
