To kick-start the autumn, LAHF has commissioned a series of blogs about the future of arts and health which we will be publishing daily over the next 2 weeks. The blogs, from leading practitioners working across the spectrum of creativity and wellbeing ask where this work is heading and what challenges and opportunities might open up in the year ahead. The blog series will begin on Monday 10th September and a new blog will be published each weekday until 21st September.

Power of Music conference, University of Nottingham – 12 October 2018

This one-day conference will focus on music in health and social care, in partnership with the Institute of Mental Health, Room 217 Foundation, Live Music Now, MHA and Lakeside Arts, the Conference will feature interactive workshops showcasing local performers and projects, such as Opus Music, the Nottingham People’s Choir and JoCo Learning & Development.

St Andrew’s Healthcare is seeking a Northampton-based music instructor to join its Creative Arts team.

The ideal candidate will have a qualification within the Music sector, or a minimum of 5 years within the arts industry and have a wide breadth of skills and experience in delivering music which include, playing ability on guitar and drums and basic piano. Experience of recording would be desirable. The successful candidate will help to create, plan and facilitate music sessions for and with patients alongside others within the team.

This conference, taking place in Derby in November, aims to bring arts and health together with health humanities to exchange and enrich practice.

Leading Dance with Older People – 7 October and 4 November 2017

This two day course at the Institute of Mental Health in Nottingham will introduce ideas for facilitating dance and movement with older people with limited mobility and/or dementia.

It will include input about dementia from an expert, together with practical workshops offering take-away dance tasks to add to your ‘bag’.
