The electronics corporation Philips is offering awards to develop practical, achievable ideas to improve the health and wellbeing of people living in cities. The Liveable Cities Award is aimed at ideas and concepts which have not yet been implemented.
Lottery grant fund, Awards for All, has been revamped. Grants of between £300 and £10,000 are available for projects that improve communities; the scheme is open to health organisations. w: www.awardsforall.org.uk
The Awards for All programme is changing from 1st April. From this point, the Big Lottery Fund (BIG) will run their own, new version of Awards for All, awarding grants of £300 to £10,000 to local communities for 2009-10.
The programme will retain its current parameters focusing on training and development, stronger communities, improving environments and healthier and more active people and communities.
The Foundation for Sport and the Arts has announced that it will close at the end of March 2012. The deadline for final applications is March 31st 2009.
The Wellcome Trust has announced the deadlines for its 2009 Arts Awards. The Trust has two Arts Awards available; small to medium-sized projects (up to £30,000) and larger projects (over £30,000). Funding can either be used to support the development of new projects or provide funding for workshops or to develop new relationships between artists and scientists.
The deadlines for the small to medium awards are 3rd April, 17th July, 16th October, and 29th January 2010. The deadline for larger projects will be in January 2010.

The Henry Smith Charity offers funding for arts projects under a range of themes including hospitals, palliative care, medical research and the elderly. w: www.henrysmithcharity.org.uk
The Baring Foundation has now opened applications for funding to its arts programme 2009. Formally constituted, not-for-profit organisations can apply to the Foundation. The next deadline for submitting arts programme applications is 12 December 2008.
