A recent report on cultural leadership has called for more diverse leadership, and indicated that arts leaders' creativity and capacity to problem-solve is being impacted by the precarity of the sector. Independent consultant Sue Hoyle and researchers at Kings College London (KCL) discuss the challenge of supporting a workforce during periods of change. The report will inform ACE's forthcoming 10-year strategy.

rb&hArts is looking for 12 different artists/ workshops facilitators to run one-off arts or craft sessions as part of its Crafternoons series, particularly unique arts, crafts and activities that will inspire creativity. "If you have an idea for a fun, exciting and inventive participatory visual arts workshop we would love to hear from you."

Crafternoons is an rb&hArts initiative offering monthly participatory visual arts workshops to patients, staff and visitors at Royal Brompton & Harefield NHS Foundation Trust.

A new review by the Paul Hamlyn Foundation suggests that short-term funding is impacting arts charities' ability to plan. It also points to the fact that statutory grants tend to stay at the same level, and do not keep up with demand for services or inflation. The review suggests that government budget reductions have worsened inequaiity in terms of cultural access across the UK.

The review is based on assessments of 450 grants awarded throgh six different PHF funds. 

The Arts and Humanities Research Council is funding the development of nine "creative clusters" across the country, and a new Policy and Evidence Centre led by NESTA. Part of the government's Industrial Strategy, the clusters and Centre will be research and development hubs to bring universities and the creative industries together to support the cultural sector.

Call for stories

The Culture, Health & Wellbeing Alliance (CHWA) is calling for 70 Stories for 70 Years, to celebrate the 70^th Anniversary of the NHS in 2018.

We would like these stories to represent your own experience of the impact of creativity, culture and the arts on your own health and wellbeing or that of someone close to you. Stories can take the form of music, paintings, photographs, videos, text or anything else that speaks to culture, health and wellbeing.

To kick-start the autumn, LAHF has commissioned a series of blogs about the future of arts and health which we will be publishing daily over the next 2 weeks. The blogs, from leading practitioners working across the spectrum of creativity and wellbeing ask where this work is heading and what challenges and opportunities might open up in the year ahead. The blog series will begin on Monday 10th September and a new blog will be published each weekday until 21st September.

London Arts in Health Forum is hosting a discussion event to explore the need for support for artists own health and wellbeing when they are delivering arts and health activity.

Previously the Wellcome Image Awards, the newly relaunched competition will reward pictures that show the importance of health in society and the impact health issues have on people and communities worldwide.
