'My Life', Shape Open exhibition – submission deadline 5 October

The Shape Open is an annual call-out for disabled and non-disabled artists to submit work in response to a disability-focused theme. Exhibiting artists will be selected by a panel of arts industry judges to show their work at Shape Open patron Yinka Shonibare MBE’s Guest Projects space. The winning artist will receive a £1,000 prize.

This year's theme, chosen Yinka Shonibare, is 'My Life'.

Arts leader sought for Creative Arts for Dementia Group, Poole – deadline 31 December

Poole Housing Partnership is inviting expressions of interest from art tutors/artists/art therapists to lead a Creative Arts for Dementia Group on a contract basis.

The weekly group will be for people with early or mid stage dementia that, subject to funding, should be running from the autumn following a successful pilot earlier this year. You will be required to register with the Borough of Poole as a provider of services prior to starting to provide the service.

An expression of interest form must be submitted by 31st December 2015.

Dignity in Mental Health art exhibition, Liverpool - submissions open

Liverpool will celebrate World Mental Health Day on Saturday 10 October with a programme of events more extensive and varied than those offered in any other city in the UK. The activities range from music, performance and debates to film, training, advice and information. Now in its 6th year and organised by Liverpool Mental Health Consortium, one of the most popular events in our World Mental Health Day programme has proved to be the art exhibition.

The Barometer of My Heart asks 'What is it to be a man today?', and offers an intimate reimagining of masculinity. Inspired by workshops and real conversations with men, carnivalesque, primitive and tender performances will bring male experiences kept in the shadows into the light.

Wellcome Image Awards - submissions deadline 9 September

The Wellcome collections' picture library is currently acccepting submissions of images for the library and for its awards.

Award-winning images will go on display in science centres and public galleries around the world.

Outside In – artists’ surgery days – 27 August-17 September

Outside In is holding a series of Surgery Days around the UK to help artists to create online galleries if they don’t have the skills or facilities to do it themselves. They can of course come with support workers/carers or family members or come alone. Each session is one hour long and is a one-to-one session. You have to book a place to attend as places are limited.

Australian arts cuts condemned in submission to Senate Enquiry

The Australian arts community has roundly condemned the Federal Government in submissions to a Senate inquiry on the impact of Budget cuts to arts funding.

Creative Future survey – deadline 11 September

Are you a marginalised or disabled artist, writer, maker or engaging in arts activity? Creative Future is researching the barriers that marginalised and disabled artists face when accessing arts opportunities. Complete this survey before the 11 September 2015 to be in with a chance of winning £60. The survey has 24 questions (mostly tick boxes and can be completed in around 15 minutes). The research will help organisations engage more people who are marginalised and disabled.

Artworks Alliance

A new umbrella organisation has been established to support individual participatory artists. The Artworks Alliance has been developed from the Paul Hamlyn Foundation funded Artworks scheme to support the development of those working in community arts, socially-engaged arts, voluntary arts, and arts in education and learning.
