Campaign to reduce mental health stigma

The government and Comic Relief are joining forces to help tackle mental health stigma. This involves funding of up to £20 million for Time to Change, the leading stigma and anti-discrimination campaign, run by Mind and Rethink Mental Illness.

The campaign involves activities to enable people to meet each other and it provides opportunities for obtaining new skills, improving mental health and boosting confidence. The work also involves a campaign to change public behaviour towards people with mental health issues.

King’s Fund, Environments of care for people with dementia

The Department of Health has commissioned The King’s Fund to develop a number of specific programmes to enhance the environment of care as part of its work to improve the patient experience. The latest of these is a programme to improve the care environment for people with dementia to support the implementation of the national dementia strategy, involving 23 teams from acute and mental health NHS trusts who are working on a range of projects across the dementia care pathway and seeking to make acute general hospital environments less alienating.
