International conference launched

Next summer’s international conference in Bristol has been launched with a call for abstracts. Organised by Arts and Health South West, the conference will bring together speakers from around the world over the course of three days in June to examine the themes of Healthy and Creative Ageing, Global Health Inequalities and Culture, and Culture and the Social Determinants of Wellbeing.

SEMPRE International Conference 'Setting the tempo' – 18-20 April 2013

The Sidney De Haan Research Centre for Arts and Health is currently engaged in research into the benefits of singing on wellbeing and health as part of a wider programme of research into the contribution of music activities in promoting the health and wellbeing of individuals and communities. This SEMPRE conference will focus on the need for a progressive research programme on Music, Health and Wellbeing.

International Symposium: The arts in a time of crisis: living and dying creatively in a changing world, Sydenham - 2-3 November

This symposium aims to provide a forum in which to explore current arts practice, education and research in end of life care and to formulate an effective response to cut backs and diminishing support for creative arts services during a time of increasing financial austerity. The central question for debate will be ‘Can the creative arts not only offer a cost effective and dynamic response, but also a fundamental response, to both living and dying in a changing world?’

Invitation to contribute to engage journal on arts in healthcare

Proposals are invited for contributions to engage 30, the third online issue of the engage journal, on the theme of the visual arts and healthcare in a broad range of settings.

Design & Health World Congress – Call for Papers – deadline 15 December

The First Announcement and Call for Papers for the 8th Design & Health World Congress & Exhibition in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia has been published.

Organised by the International Academy for Design & Health in partnership with the Ministry of Health and Public Works Department Malaysia, the congress is also supported by the Malaysian Institute of Architects, the Academy of Medicine of Malaysia - College of Public Health Medicine and the International Islamic University Malaysia.

Ages and Stages conference on intergenerational performance – call for participants

London Bubble is convening a conference on intergenerational performance work. The aim is to focus on theatre and dance projects that engage a range of ages, and to hear from and promote artists and organisations who deliberately choose to work in this area.

The conference is scheduled for Saturday 7 January, 11am to 5.30pm at the new Canada Water Culture space in Southwark. London Bubble wants to hear from intergenerational practitioners who are interested in discussing the practicalities and principles, or who would like to show images of their work.
