Unleashing health by design: Creating a culture of wellness in our cities

Call for abstracts European Healthcare Design 2017 Congress & Exhibition - deadline 8 December 2016

The third European Healthcare Design 2017 Congress has issued a call for abstracts for presentations on a number of themes including “the art of care: creating compassionate places and environments”.

The second international conference on culture, health and wellbeing will take place in Bristol next June. Building on the success of the first conference in 2013, it will showcase inspirational practice, policy and the latest research and will focus on the role of arts and creativity in healing, care and wellbeing across the life course.

Call for papers - art and design in healthcare contexts - deadline 7 November 2016

The Association of Art Historians annual conference, will next year include a panel discussion exploring art and design in healthcare.

Taking place from 6 to 8 April 2017 at Loughborough University, the panel invites historians of art, architecture and design, as well as cultural practitioners, programmers and policymakers, to reflect upon, critique and question the forms and functions of contemporary and historical art and design practices in healthcare environments (hospitals, clinics, long-term care facilities, etc.).

Proposals invited for engage 39 journal – deadline 15 August 2016

Engage 39 is seeking international contributions relating to current social, economic and policy contexts for visual arts in health and wellbeing.

Questions they would like to address include:

1. What are the current social, economic and policy contexts for arts in health and wellbeing in the UK and internationally?

2. How these have changed over recent years and since the publication of engage Journal 30: Arts and Health, in summer 2012?

Medicine Unboxed: Students 2016 - deadline 3 July 2016

The annual Medicine Unboxed conference is inviting students to apply for a 10-minute presentation at Medicine Unboxed: Students 2016.

Undergraduate or postgraduate students from all backgrounds are able to apply, including art, drama, music, medicine, literary studies, philosophy and other health-related subjects. Previous presentations have included conversations and debate, performances, storytelling, dance and comedy, workshops and film.

International Conference on Culture, Health and Wellbeing - June 2017

The second international conference is coming to Bristol UK on June 19, 20 and 21 2017.

The conference will showcase inspirational practice, policy and the latest research in culture and arts in health and wellbeing. It will discuss the role of arts and creativity in healing, care and wellbeing across the life course. It will encourage discussion and shared learning, facilitating dialogue between researchers, policy makers and practitioners. Conference themes will encompass multiple art forms and will include:

Call for Papers – arts and dementia – deadline 16 July 2016

The First International Research Conference on the Arts and Dementia will take place in March 2017. A call for papers has now been issued.

From 9-10 March 2017, the Royal Society of Public Health and Canterbury Christ Church University is hosting an international conference on arts and dementia.

Invitations are now open for abstracts of up to 200 words which clearly describes research in this area.
