Theatre of the Oppressed Workshops

Taking place this March are two theatre workshops facilitated by Adrian Jackson, founder of Cardboard Citizens, a theatre company applying Theatre of the Oppressed techniques in homeless hostels, community centres, schools and theatres to engage and inspire the marginalised.

Elderly Care by Design

Taking place at London South Bank University in London on 18th February this one day conference, organised by the International Academy for Design and Health, will present a selection of talks, discussions, exhibitions and workshops to explore the issue of designing environments for independent living.

Attachment and the Arts

On 12th February The British Association of Art Therapists (BAAT) will present the one day conference Attachment and the Arts. Taking place in London, the conference will cover subjects such as ‘How the arts can help people to think’ and ‘Developing a dynamic pathway to create artistic identity and social empowerment’.

Personality Disorder Artist's Talk

As part of the programme of events around Personality Plus’ exhibition Emergence... Discovering the Creative Self, 25th January to 4th March, at the Together Gallery in London, LAHF is pleased to co-present a talk from emerging artist Mark Francis Jones.

State of the Arts Conference

On 14th January 2010 the State of the Arts conference will take place in London to bring together a wide range of creative voices to debate the value and purpose of the arts at a time of significant change.

LAHF 2010

LAHF is planning a series of events in 2010 aimed to help arts in health practitioners to better promote themselves and to raise awareness of the sector. These events will include workshops on relating to the press and toolkits offering advice and support on advocating for support. Full details of these events will be published in January.

Personality Disorder Artists

Emergence... Discovering the Creative Self is an exhibition of multi disciplinary artwork by London artists who identify with the symptoms and issues surrounding personality disorder.

Roundtable on Singing and Health

The last of a series of five roundtable discussion on singing and health, organised by the Sidney De Haan Research Centre for Arts and Health, will take place on 9th December at the University Centre Folkestone in Folkestone, Kent. How London Health Commission Works

On 11th January 2010 London Civic Forum and London Voluntary Service Council will present an event to explain the workings of the London Health Commission, a cross-sector partnership working to reduce health inequalities and promote health in London, to the voluntary and community sector.                                                                                                                   e: events@londoncivicforum.org.uk

Attachment and the Arts

Taking place in London next February is the conference Attachment and the Arts. Organised by the British Association of Art Therapists, the one day conference will cover subjects such as ‘How the arts can help people to think' and ‘Developing a dynamic pathway to create artistic identity and social empowerment'. Speakers include LAHF Trustee Belinda Sosinowicz and Peter Fonagy, Freud Memorial Professor of Psychoanalysis and Head of the Research Department of Clinical, Educational and Health Psychology at UCL.
