Music Care Training – 29 and 30 May 2018

The University of Nottingham is running a series of training workshops to prepare caregivers to use music in their care practice with increased confidence and theoretical understanding.

The two day course is the first level of a three tier training series. Cost: £200

Creative Writing for Therapeutic Purposes – 19 May 2018

The Metanoia Institute is offering a one day introductory workshop for writers who are interested in supporting others to write, and practitioners in the healthcare or caring professions who are curious about bringing writing into their practice.

Arts 4 Dementia is running a training day designed to give arts facilitators greater understanding, increased skills and confidence in communicating and working creatively with people experiencing the early stages of dementia and their carers.

These free training workshops offer artists the chance to learn from the project Dementia and Imagination. The study devised a method of working with people with dementia using visual arts; in hospitals, community and residential care settings.

Writing for Resilience – 26 May 2018

A personal writing therapy workshop for people interested in exploring the role writing can play in building a personal strategy for resilience.

No prior knowledge of poetry or expressive writing is required, just a willingness to share, reflect and experiment with words in a supportive environment.

Training in reminiscence arts in dementia care – 14 and 15 May 2018

The European Reminiscence Network is running a two day training course to be held at the University of Greenwich.

This experiential course will be led by highly experienced reminiscence arts practitioners and trainers, with input from volunteers and former carers. It will be certificated by the European Reminiscence Network.

European Outsider Art Association Conference – 4 - 6 May 2018

Hosted by Outside In at Pallant House Gallery, Chichester, this conference will focus on ‘the Artist’s Voice,’ celebrating the work of excluded and non-traditional artists and sharing best practice.

The keynote speech will be delivered by renowned multidisciplinary artist Bobby Baker. There is also a VIP programme of activities running from 2nd-3rd May.

Body, Wellness, Imagination – from 4 March 2018

This series of fortnightly dance workshops has been designed for people living with chronic health issues or fatigue, exploring the idea of dance as medicine.

Led by artist and dancer Natasha Swingler, they will explore movement, breath, partner-work, guided imagery, writing and drawing.
