Personalisation, the Real Story!, CoolTan Arts film screening, BFI - 25 March 2013

The screening will consist of original films made by CoolTan Arts participants, exploring the impact of the personalisation process and personal budgets, through their own words, filmmaking and animation.

The films are made by and for people with mental distress, and for policy makers, politicians and health care professionals.

The event will also include a discussion with VIP speakers and filmmakers, and a chance for the audience to ask questions.

An event exploring the rich connections between poetry, medicine and health, featuring poets John Burnside, Jo Shapcott and Jane Draycott. Poet In The City, in partnership with Medicine Unboxed, presents an event exploring the rich connections between poetry and medicine.

Poetry can bring new perspectives to the ideas we have about medicine and health. How can issues surrounding our understanding of illness and our associated beliefs and values be explored and challenged through language and the imagination?

Mental Well-Being Market at the Dragon Café – 25 February

Mental Fight Club in partnership with Southwark Council will be holding the Mental Wellbeing Market Place from 12-6pm on 25 February. Events will include performances anddemonstrations and a range of organisations will be available to provide information about their activities and services. 

Creative Therapies Project

The Creative Therapies Project offers services to Southwark residents with mental health concerns. Services include psychotherapeutic sessions (art, music and individual therapy), cooking club, exercise classes, and open art and music sessions.

The Art Cafe meets every other Thursday at 2:15-3:45 pm

ACTive INquiry

Weekly participatory performance workshops exploring current affairs.

Formed in 2010 the AI group carries out sketches, scenes, skits and other social commentary performances to raise awareness about problematic social issues. The stated goal of these performances is to make the public ‘think and ask questions’ and expose the lies around these injustices.

Ageing Artfully

Ageing Artfully a project for older adults in Camden delivering cooking, yoga and dance and movement led by expert practitioners in a number of community centres including the Surma Centre, Kings Cross Brunswick Neighbourhood Association and Queens Crescent Community Association. The project is open to individuals based in Camden from all backgrounds who are over 50 years of age. The project focus is on improving wellbeing, active lifestyles and community spirit, with every participant making their own bespoke wellbeing progress plan.

Creative Writing and Crafting for Wellbeing, Waterline Workshops – 23&24 February

Waterline Workshops are offering the discounted price of £100 (normally £135) for its weekend workshop in Paddington exploring Writing and Crafting for Wellbeing. In this workshop they will be teaching how to make a vase and produce creative writing inspired by water.

A nine week course for people over 50.
