BBC project aims to capture portrait of Britain in one day

A programme capturing life in Britain in a 24-hour period has been launched as part of the BBC's Cultural Olympiad. 'Britain In A Day'

will take contributions from the public about their lives on 12 November this year. People will be asked to film themselves and put the video online for the project which is in conjunction with Sir Ridley Scott's production company.

A dedicated team will run filmmaking workshops with people in different communities and produce a series of "how-to" films and guides aimed at teaching anyone to use phones or cameras to record their day. BBC Learning is putting together a film featuring more than 20 high-profile figures from BBC television and radio, encouraging people to take part on 12 November. BBC Learning will also work with film schools, societies and charities.
