The Artist in the Archive workshops – various January / February 2012
The Artist in the Archive is a short programme of free workshops to meet the growing interest in collaborating with film, TV and sound collections, particularly those held by the BFI and the BBC.
A BFI project in association with Archives for Creativity and supported by Arts Council London, the workshops will be held in early 2012. Speakers will be drawn from the BBC, BFI, LUX, Smoking Dogs, People Like Us and Archives for Creativity.
Each workshop will include:
* understanding moving image and sound archives
* building relationships between archives and artists
* existing archive collections of arts and moving image
* the artists’ needs, from searching for content, through to digital production, and to opportunities for exhibition
* case studies by artists who have worked with BBC archives
* advice on managing rights clearance
* archive tours
Each workshop is free, including lunch and an archive tour, and will follow the same programme.
Please note: the 18 January workshop is now fully booked. Some places are still available on the three remaining dates.
Workshops 1 and 3: (18 January and 1 February) - at BFI National Archives.
Workshops 2 and 4: (25 January and 8 February) - at BBC Archives in Perivale, London.
