Access Workers – deadline 13 December 2015

Extant, a professional performing arts company of visually impaired artists, is seeking to extend its pool of access workers available to the company for regular casual work and to support several new projects taking place in the London, Birmingham and Manchester areas.

Duties will be access for blind and partially sighted artists and participants. This could include:

  • Describing visual material, environments, people and performance spaces.
  • Guiding in buildings, outdoors, to and from public transport links
  • Working closely and sensitively with blind and partially sighted individuals to support participation in creative workshops (eg, dance, drama, creative writing and sound).
  • Support with reading material or form filling.
  • Helping with guide dogs.

Pay is £10 per hour on a casual freelance basis (you will be responsible for your own tax and NI contributions). Opportunities range from one-off, all-day workshops, to weekly sessions over 2 months, or weekend and evening work; beginning January 2016.
