Tickets on sale for opening and closing events

Tickets have now gone on sale for the opening and closing events in the London Creativity and Wellbeing Week. The opening event, a lecture by acclaimed writer and broadcaster Bonnie Greer, will explore the impact the arts can have on health inequalities. It takes place on the evening of Monday 17 June at Tate Modern.

The deadline for events to be included in this summer’s London Creativity and Wellbeing Week is Friday 17 May 2013.

Opening and closing events announced for London Creativity and Wellbeing Week

The opening and closing events for London Creativity and Wellbeing Week 2013 have now been announced. We are delighted to announce that theatre maker and cultural commentator Bonnie Greer will deliver the second annual lecture to open the week on the evening of 17 June.

Alongside material from three years of blog posts for The Guardian are a collection of essays  and transcripts of live performances including “To Save Our Lives” the opening lecture of last year’s London Creativity and Wellbeing Week.

LAHF seeking new Board Members

London Arts in Health Forum is currently recruiting for new trustees to support the organisation as it delivers its wide-ranging programme of activity. The trustees act as a board of directors for LAHF, providing strategic direction and financial oversight for the organisation.

A New Age published

LAHF has just published a short paper looking at the changing state of health funding for arts activity with, by and for older people in England. Entitled A New Age, the article was commissioned by The Baring Foundation and written by Damian Hebron and Karen Taylor of LAHF.

Arts in Health: Improving Lives

A campaign has been launched by the National Alliance for Arts Health and Wellbeing to highlight the impact of arts intervention on health. As part of this, LAHF is leading the campaign across London and showcasing the good work of projects in the city. Partners across the country are doing the same in their own regions.

Fidget award

LAHF is pleased to have received a special commendation from the Royal Society for Public Health for the Fidget project. Awarded as part of the RSPH’s annual conference and awards ceremony, the commendation was given for Fidget’s innovative contribution to arts and health evaluation and practice.

London Creativity and Wellbeing Week 2013

Planning has begun for the next London Creativity and Wellbeing Week to take place next June. Building on the success of the first ever Creativity and Wellbeing Week earlier this year, LAHF has begun preparing for next year.

Fidget

LAHF’s interactive engagement project Fidget has just finished its tour in Newcastle. Over the past six weeks, our pop up art installation and enthusiastic team have taken public health information about active lifestyles and sedentary behaviour to audiences of over 10,000 people in festivals, city centres, colleges and seafronts.

London Creativity and Wellbeing Week ran from 13–20 June and attracted hundreds of people to a range of events across the capital. LAHF would like to say a huge thank you to all who took part, whether by organising events or going to them!
